The Western Swamp Tortoise - Australia’s rarest reptile - needs your help! Come along and help the Friends of the Western Swamp Tortoise, Department of Parks and Wildlife and WWF-Australia plant around new habitat ponds to help this Critically Endangered species.
When: Sunday 12th June, 2016 from 9:30am – 12:00pm (see events section this site)
Meeting Point: Ellen Brook Nature Reserve, end of Lexia Avenue, Upper Swan.
Bring: Gumboots, sunscreen, sturdy enclosed footwear, long pants and weather appropriate protection.
Provided: Tools, gloves, and light lunch
We'll be planting local provenance natives at Ellen Brook Nature Reserve, an essential part of the tortoises' habitat. Even if you can only help for a short time, we would appreciate your attendance.
Many of our members really enjoy planting days as a few hours work shows great results (see our website for some pics of the work accomplished on previous planting days).
We welcome anyone who can help, so please feel free to send these details to others who may be interested.
